This 100-Day Project Mixes Pieces Randomly, Then Re-assembles Puzzle In Seconds.

The Puzzle Master machine represents the collaboration of DWFritz Automation, Rockwell Automation, Anorad Corporation, and Cognex Corporation.

It was created as a means to showcase the advantages of integrating precision motion, vision and robotic control onto a single platform. It also demonstrates how DWFritz Automation integrates off-the-shelf technology to design and build a complete automation solution in a very short time frame. The machine was conceived, designed and built in fewer than 100 days.

Servo Control:	Rockwell Automation/Anorad G5300M1 XY gantry and Cyclone™ Z-Theta positioning module, AB Ultra3000 servos and Anorad PCI-2000 8-axis precision motion controller.
Discreet I/O:	DeviceNet on Ethernet IP.
Highlights:	Highly accurate recognition of 32 unique puzzle pieces. Precision picking and placing of the puzzle pieces. Unique vision-to-motion system calibration technique. Wafer-handling robot scrambles and moves puzzles between the display area and the assembly workspace. PC Controls: Seven applications running simultaneously to control the machine; all accessed with a custom graphical user interface.
