Automated Anodizing Tool

Get exact color anodization of vulnerable parts without blemishes or marks using robotics and precise process control.

The automated anodizing tool was engineered-to-order to electrochemically colorize the outer surface of manufactured titanium components. The tool is actually two separate robotic work cells within a single enclosure.

Operator attention is required only to load and unload custom trays, and to maintain consumables used within the process.
At user discretion, either cell can operate independently with completed parts returned to output trays at each side of the tool, or the parts can be automatically transferred between the two cells to operate as a cohesive system.
The assembly work cell utilizes a machine vision inspection process to confirm presence and orientation of a sacrificial mask for placement on the component. Working at a load cell, the assembly robot places the mask over the part. The masked part is then picked, inverted, and transferred through an internal port to the anodizing cell robot on the right-hand side of the tool.
The colorizing cell robot picks and transfers the masked part to a recipe-controlled colorize-rinse-dry station. At the conclusion of the process, the robot strips the mask from the part and then transfers the colorized part to an output tray for operator retrieval.
